Elena is the Senior Research Fellow for the National Institute for Early Education Research and the Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning. Her research is focused on providing intensive coaching for teachers in their own classrooms to establish "model classrooms." She is the lead author of the book Scaffolding Early Literacy. This is a program goaled towards developing the cognition, language and literacy for young children combined with professionals to improve teaching.
