Barbara Landau is the Dick and Lydia Todd Professor and Chair of Cognitive Science, and the Principal Investigator at the Language and Cognition Lab at Johns Hopkins University. Her lab focuses on the nature, acquisition, and development of human knowledge of space and language. Her central interests concern the nature of the cognitive "primitives" that are in place during early development, and support our remarkable capacity to recognize objects, move around space in a directed fashion, and talk about our spatial experience. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Governing Board member of the Cognitive Science Society, APS, and APA, and was named a Guggenheim Fellow for the year 2009-2010.
