Gene Yeo discusses his career path which has taken him from a Chemical Engineering and Economics major to the Singapore military to studying computational neuroscience at MIT to his current work in RNA, and gives his insights on the state of science in Singapore and the United States. He explains the current state of RNA genomics which have revealed a less simple model of RNA.

 

Gene Yeo's research focuses on RNA in relationship to human disease and stem cells. Yeo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, UCSD based at the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine. Yeo studied Computational Neuroscience at MIT and had a postdoctoral fellowship at the Salk Institute with Rusty Gage.
