Pier Lorenzo Puri, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor, Development, Aging & Regeneration Program, Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute

Dr. Puri joined Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute as an Assistant Professor in 2004 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2010. Puri is also an Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at UC San Diego and Associate Member of Sanford Children’s Health Research Center (muscle development and regeneration program). He was appointed Staff Scientist at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in 2001 and became an Assistant Telethon Scientist at the Dulbecco Telethon Institute in Rome in 2002 and an Associate Telethon Scientist in 2007. Puri earned both an M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Rome and completed an internship in Internal Medicine. He then trained as a post-doctoral fellow at UC San Diego in the Department of Cell Biology.
