Molly Crockett recently received her PhD in the Department of Experimental Psychology from the University of Cambridge and a Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her research is focused on the neural basis of self-regulation and impulsivity. More specifically, what brain mechanisms allow us to control our thoughts, feelings and actions. In March 2011 she begins working at The Institute for Empirical Research in Economics of the University of Zurich.
Patricia Smith Churchland is UC President’s Professor of Philosophy at UC San Diego, focuses on neuroethics and attempts to understand choice, responsibly and the basis of moral norms in terms of brain function, evolution and brain-culture interactions. Her books include Brain-Wise; Neurophilosophy: Toward a Unified Science of the Mind-Brain; and On the Contrary, with husband Paul M. Churchland.
