Nicholas Shea is a Senior Research Fellow and Faculty member of Philosophy at Somerville College, University of Oxford. Shea works on conceptual problems in the cognitive neuroscience of decision-making with a view to practical applications. He specializes in philosophy of psychology and philosophy of mind. He has particular expertise in theories of representational content, both in human minds, and in simpler systems like artificial neural networks and sub-personal mechanisms found in humans and other animals, such as those studied in the cognitive neuroscience of decision-making. Shea is also a researcher at The Oxford Centre for Neuroethics and a James Martin Fellow at the Oxford Martin School.
