Javier Movellan is a research scientist at the University of California, San Diego Institute for Neural Computation. He also founded UCSD's Machine Perception Laboratory in 1997. His research is focused on gaining insights about the way the brain works by clarifying the nature of the problems it solves.

Paula Tallal is the Board of Governor's Professor of Neuroscience and Co-Director of the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience at Rutger's University. Tallal is also the Co-founder and the Director of the Scientific Learning Corporation. Her research interests include cognitive neuroscience, languange and central auditory processing and language learning disabilities.

Marni Stewart-Bartlett is an Associate Research Professor at the Insitute for Neural Computation at the University of California, San Diego and Co-director of the Machine Perception Lab with Javier Movellan. Her research is focused on learning in vision with an application to face recognition and expression analysis.

Zewelanji Serpell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Virginia State University. Her research is focused on sociocultural factors related to social and cognitive development and performance in schools and school based mental health and ethnic minority youth.
